As soon as Alpha Kendrick left, I was walking around in the garden, my boots marching on the path. I was trying to make sense of what just happened, although he kissed me and told me he would return to kiss me again. But I was filled with worry.
What if something happened to him? This is the matter of the pack, he can't face this on his own. The council needs to know about this. I shook my head, trying to toss off my thoughts and focus on anything that'll take my mind off everything happening.
He's the Alpha. He's tough. He'll be fine. The worry stayed back like a plague, I didn't even hear the footsteps of a maid until she was directly behind me. I turned around to see her, she was a few years older than me, her hair tied back and a plain maid's dress. She was nervous,
"Hi.." she said, her words gentle but firm. "I'm Layla, I work in the manor."
