Synopsis
"Well listen here, ya mangly, loose-limbed sack o' rusted nails, ya half-chewed boot sole, ya flea-bitten chunk o' last week's stew—so ya want to hear 'bout Outbounds, eh?
Let me set it straight fer yer soggy brains: yer standing ankle-deep in the foulest muck-pit at the edge of what we call civilization. This ain’t no pretty kingdom with flowery fields or silk-assed nobles prancin' around. Nah, this here’s the barren dumps, the arse-end of this trash-ass continent. Ain’t nothing grows but regret, and even that shrivels quick.
Outbound Territory, it's called. But don't let the fancy name fool ya—it's just the leftover bones where the scavengers roam free. The only law here is whatever you can carve outta someone else's hide. Folks come here thinkin' it's freedom, but freedom here means no one cares if ya live, die, or turn inta feed for the crawlies underfoot.
And the Outbounds themselves? Aye, they're somethin' special—wanderers, outcasts, and worse, pushin' farther than anyone sane dares ta go. Some say they’re lookin' for somethin', others say they're runnin' from it. All I know is once ya cross that line, ya ain't comin' back whole. Ya go too far, ya lose yerself, piece by bloody piece.
So, if that's yer path, then tread careful, hero—cause whatever ya choose, just know this: yer always gonna be outta bounds."
-- Innkeeper
Outbound is set in a world at the bitter edge of civilization—a forsaken wasteland sarcastically named the Outbound Territory. It's a harsh, lawless expanse of scavengers and outcasts, where survival is the only rule, and freedom comes with a steep price. Those who venture into the Outbounds either seek something beyond sanity’s edge or flee a past they cannot face. But everyone who crosses into this territory knows one truth: step too far, and you'll lose yourself, piece by piece, forever beyond boundaries.
We follow Invoketus "Vokey", an abandoned archmage of the prestigious Clan of Invokers. Archmages traditionally command the five noble elements—metal, water, wood, fire, and earth. Yet Vokey was born different, wielding symbols no one understood—hydrogen, helium—seemingly useless nonsense. Cast out and banished to the Outbounds for his perceived inadequacies, Vokey embarks on a journey filled with discovery, unlikely allies, and the slow-building hope for redemption.
In a place defined by limits, Vokey learns to define himself beyond the boundaries others set for him.
