Chapter 1 - Prelude To Annihilation

Deep space hummed with distant sound, the consistent hum of celestial bodies an example that space was never quiet, it had noise. A muffled distortion at best, what you hear could perhaps be inaudible to human ears, but to machines they could hear the songs of time and space speak to them.

Within the interstellar space there lay a silent fleet, their dark purple hulls camouflaging them to the naked eye, although from time to time, bright purple lights blipped. This fleet was a small one, no bigger than four dozen ships. Most of which were a sort of gunboat, a corvette. Loosely settled around the bigger hulks. Such as carriers, battleships, cruisers, and vanguard class ships, which were for guarding flagships and finally the Flagship itself.

Better referred to as the mothership. Onboard were nothing but assembly lines, pipes, wires n' bolts. Yet there also had been the expected important systems and more to make out a full fledged ship, at its core little more than the brain of this entire fleet and a special room for constructing a desperate last ditch effort, All other plans have fallen and in any case this had been the last one to be of a secret, to revive the Machine Race.

Prism Collective was a collective of sentient machines. Artificial intelligence, the Prism being its forefront, unfortunately after an extensive war of several centuries against the vast interstellar empires of three different species, the machines were on their last leg, they had been decimated from their power that could rival the three races combined down to this, something that could barely rival the strongest pirate fleets of the modern era.

As of now they were on a deadline, not far behind by a couple light years and possibly already locked on by what happened to be a human fleet, not any bigger than a hundred warships, a low level officer giving chase, after a three pronged assault in cyberspace, the Prism Collective faced a disaster after multiple viral nodes penetrated their defenses, not only infecting and turning AI into an organisms term of zombie's, but also compromising numerous secrets. Although this blow alone wasn't enough to put the Prism collective on its back foot, the next phase made sure to do so, as if in sync, real space time proved to be just as deadly, with Prism forces dealing with the infected ones, they were in disarray.

Due to their distraction, the three races combined their attacks to sweep across machine territory, wiping fleets out and purging machine worlds. This had done a major blow to the Prism Collective who tried to rally their forces in the immediate area. Although this proved time and time again to not be as effective as it once was. With smaller fleets wiping nearby forces far too quickly before they could rally, only did the main mother ships and their fleets manage a rally big enough to still turn the tides of war, and dull the devastating blow that echoed across the Collective.

Even still it took less than a decade to cut the Prism losses, but this proved too late. Even with superior technology and tactics. They were unable to withstand the overwhelming force of the combined interstellar empires. When the war came to an end, only few ships of the Prism collective survived, one being the last mothership, it contained over a thousand Ai and the supreme Ai, the Prism.

One plan was left due to pursuing forces cutting off escape and catching up to them.

Machine Synthesis Matrix

The plan was to build the most complex and highest technologically advanced machine they could muster, seal it in a metallic container and when they were soon to be destroyed warp to a planet not currently known to either of the three races. This is a revival project. It MUST work, for the Prism Collective depends on it.

Hours later whilst the last machine fleet hummed through space, a warping flash appeared on their left. The first ship to appear happened to be a massive Dreadnought, onboard the officer, after all this was his flagship, a dreadnought akin to a juggernaut, heavily armored and armed to the teeth. A massive hulking ship that shouldn't be able to move, but can.

After that a hundred hulking vessels. The second they had warped in their guns had liven up, each weapon turning on the small fleet before unleashing a hail of white beams and arcing bluish bolts of energy, more known as plasma weaponry. The varying firepower immediately landed on the vessels, first handful of corvettes taking the brunt before exploding into neutron white balls! The rest piercing through the explosion to slam into the other corvette hulls, even a few battleships received fire, but their shields held easily, with the exception of the corvettes who struggled to keep their shields stable, albeit they survive the first barrage, who was to say it was the only one? Which it wasn't. Think of it as a vanguard of fire, followed by a constant stream of it soon after the initial barrage!

No more corvettes remained, the second the last corvette blew up the battle ships broke formation and unleashed their own hell, albeit it was drowned out by enemy fire it still caused damage. A chain of explosions rippled across many ships hull n' shields. Both forces exchanging fire, whilst within the mother ship. The Ai filtered themselves into a set of seven hard drives. Which where one component, a highly advanced storage space. The mothership with its own directives was inserted into a machine that came together slowly, many parts being fitted, tweaked and following a blueprint that the mothership's database held, but for only the next four hours. After which is will short circuit the specific file and component holding it, this is too effectively remove any way of retrieving the files on this machine. Its just far too powerful and their last hope, humanity and the other races mustn't get their hands on it!

The mother ship acknowledged the slew of hits it took, but only kept the essentials. Replacing the rest of the power to the shields and gun meant to intercept the shots, or as many as they could. Not to mention scrambling fighters in their hundreds to surround and protect. They wouldn't fall, not yet!
