Her words were alluring, very tempting to the soul as if he was listening to a symphony played by the devil.
With every word and remark mentioned, Liam's gaze darkened and fury was ignited. With every remark said, he couldn't help but recall the past. How hard it was for him and how much he preserved and all that for a brighter future. But where was that future he had dreamt about dearly?
He couldn't see it.
The moment he woke up and was forced to go through several examinations. Watching the doctors sighing helplessly and dejectedly repeatedly. All hope was lost.
When he was told that the director of a musical program was interested in signing him. He felt hope for the first time since the breakup with Wendy. But never in a million years did he think that it would end badly like that and with him seeming so pathetic, he felt ashamed to see anyone.
How could he not want to avenge himself? It wasn't just against those people, but against fate itself.
What wrong did he commit to be cursed like that?
Why did it have to be him and no other people?
Why? Why? Why?
Looking at the woman in red, he still didn't know her name. She looked like a devil and an angel sent to him to lessen that pain.
Since she asked, it means that she might have a way. Since that was the case, why not be true to himself and see where it ends?
After all, what does a guy like him who was about to die have to lose?
Nothing!
"I want to avenge myself, but above all, in these four months that I have. I hope to be happy and fulfil a few dreams I haven't fulfilled. Can you help me with those?" Liam's desperate voice sounded in her ears and Sonia looked at the young man with an indescribable gaze.
Liam nervously looked at his savior, not sure what she was thinking, but he was hoping that he hadn't asked for something that she couldn't give him. After all, it was rare for men to be on the receiving end, and this situation made him feel very vulnerable. He didn't like how he was feeling, but something about her made him have a glimmer of hope. Thus, the greediness to ask for more.
It was just a matter of what she wanted from him. After all, he could tell that there was something that she wanted from him, but what was it, truly?
Honestly, he was clueless, and a bit confused.
Thankfully, Sonia wasn't planning on keeping him in suspense.
A smile suddenly blossomed on her face as she looked at Liam.
"If that's what you want, then I can help you with everything. And to get that, you only need to do one thing for me. Can you do it?" she asked solemnly, a mysterious glint in her eyes.
When he heard that, he nodded solemnly. At this stage, it didn't matter what Sonia wanted. As long as he could get what he wanted.
Previously, if he was still fit and not dying, he might have never even given her a chance to say all these words. But where does pride get him?
It wasn't like he could eat pride or get healthy again because of it. Moreover, he had good feelings towards Sonia. He couldn't dislike her.
"What is that you want? As long as I can do it in my state, I will agree to it!"
Sonia beamed, happy to know that. Although it was a pity that she found him a bit late and that he had such a short time to live. Perhaps it wasn't a bad thing. After all, what he planned for him, if it was a normal person, these four months would only put her in pain which didn't want.
So, she opened her red lips and stated her condition without flinching. "Marry me and die as my husband. Can you do that?" sounding very serious, it startled Liam, who wasn't expecting such a condition at the first meeting.
"You …. I …" he stuttered, speechless, as he pointed at himself and then at Sonia, in disbelief at what he had just heard.
"You want to marry me? Even when I am dying?" he couldn't help but wonder as he looked at her, baffled.
'But why?'
Sonia looked at the baffled young man and found him more pleasing to the eye the more she looked at him.
Although there was a slight difference from the person she used to dream about, she could tell that he was still the one. That's all that mattered.
"Um. That's my condition," she flatly responded, crossing her legs as her piercing gaze remained on him. "I have the money, the resources, and unlike those who want to suppress and hide you. I will let you spread your wings far. I won't hinder you as long as you keep part of your bargain. Are you sure you still want to do it after hearing about my conditions?"
Badum. Badum. Badum.
Liam couldn't believe it even after hearing her saying it repeatedly.
She wants to marry me! She wants to marry me and make me her husband.
It felt and sounded too surreal; it didn't seem real to him at all.
He was dying, and he had nothing. His family …. They were just humble, without much to talk about.
He didn't have anything that he could say that she was attracted to except his face. Why did she want to marry him?
Why was it like that?
Sonia saw his shock as well as hesitation and found that not unpleasant at all. After all, it would be very suspicious if he jumped on the opportunity. He got to agree to her condition after hearing it. However, she was determined to tie this young man to her side at all costs.
So, she explained further, hoping that he wouldn't remain shocked and agree to her offer quickly. She was running out of time.
"It might seem as if you have nothing that I want, but that's not true. You might not know me that well, but I am Sonia Sawyers. Thirty-six years of age this year. I have been married and divorced three times. I am a business lady. I don't lack money at all. So, I can manage to support you without suffering a loss.
I need a husband, and you happen to suit my taste. You have a great build, a good personality, know what you want and above all, you are handsome. I believe that your genes would be great as well.
So apart from being my husband, I want you to be the father of my child if we get lucky. I believe that you wouldn't want to leave this world without leaving a child for your family or someone to pass your line. Am I right?"
