[In the hallway where we met,
You gave a shy smile, and my heart was set,
You took my hand, and the world stood still,
A spark was ignited, and I knew that moment that you were the one .....]
Sounding from the speakers, the love song hit her every nerve. As she drove back to the empty house with no one but servants, Sonia felt compensated in some ways.
She didn't know why she liked this song, to be honest. Was it because the singer was someone powerful, rich and unique?
Was that why she liked the singer of the song?
Sonia couldn't help but think about the singer who held many titles. Unlike her, who was nothing but a CEO, doing the same job every single day while worrying about her lifelong dream.
At times, she always asked herself if life was fair or unfair as others always say. And the answer always differs depending on the situation that she was in.
She couldn't help but recall how, when she was twenty-two years old, getting ready to drop her CVs and find a job at these big companies.
Her dream was to work in those big companies, make a name for herself and earn a lot of money to take care of her father, stepmother and half-siblings.
Some of the people she was once acquainted with back then always mocked her for being so good to her stepmother and her children, but it wasn't like she was a fool.
Sonia lost her mother at a young age and her father remarried the stepmother, who raised her beautifully as if she was her own.
She was always fearful that this stepmother would be like the ones she always read in fairytales, but it proved that Mother Letwin was different. She was the same, whether in front of her father or not. Because of that love and care, she truly didn't feel left out as if she didn't belong.
So, it wasn't wrong for her to have such a dream.
At the age she finished university, her parents had three children already, including Felinda, the youngest but at the time, Felinda was around three years old. Quite young and very cute as well.
At that time, there were problems with the restaurant caused by the manager who embezzled and purchased soiled ingredients. Her father was greatly affected by that revelation. He was paralyzed and had to be hospitalized for a long time.
Her stepmother was a housewife, and there was nothing wrong with it. After all, the family was big, and she had much to take care of. Because of that, however, it meant that there was no one to take care of the family bills as well as the restaurant.
She who had just turned twenty-two and fresh out of university had to take on that mantle despite lacking in many ways.
As a result, while trying to pay the debts and keep the restaurant afloat, it ended up going bankrupt in her hands. It was the most painful thing apart from the death of her mother as well as her father getting paralyzed. That experience was truly heart-wrenching.
After the business fell through, she had to work tirelessly, accepting any work that could pay bills, and it lasted for years until she was twenty-six years old when she finally had a breakthrough.
She found her mother's recipes that were locked up in one of her chests. It was then that she started rising. She started from scratch and worked all the way up until this very day, owning a chain of restaurants and being one of the pioneers in the food and beverage industry.
She reached the point where she was through blood, sweat, and tears. It was never easy and yet when she compared this hard path, she walked against the singer of that song, Diamond. She couldn't help but sigh dejectedly.
In just two years, the other party was so rich, having millions of dollars and living the life she wanted without worry. Then what about her?
When comparing like this, she found life to be unfair, but what could she do?
As if it wasn't enough, she was cursed and carried the love debts of her previous life. That was why she couldn't keep a marriage.
Instead of living happily in a marriage with her spouse, she was only helping him to find his true love.
She was married three times and yet all three of them were happily married to their wives. They even have children as she speaks, but what about her?
She had no husband and no child at all. Her half-siblings were different. The one who followed her was male and named Quinn. He didn't follow in the business industry like most people thought, but was very fond of sports.
He is a soccer coach, married and has two children with his beloved wife. The one who follows after Quinn, is Anne, who is married and currently pregnant.
The last one, Felinda, was the one who was giving her headaches. She was dating, though her boyfriend didn't seem reliable at all. At least she had someone, but what about her?
In the beginning, she had no clue about what was happening to her until that seer told her everything. She was in the dark for years after that revelation, since she had no idea who she owed and how she would find him. That lasted until several months ago when she started having strange dreams.
They were continuous and very vivid except for the man who seemed to be very infatuated and deeply in love with the person she felt certain was her last life's incarnation.
In that life, she wasn't a good person. That man gave him his whole heart, and yet she played him like a fool. Gave him hope, wrapped him around her finger and when it came to what truly mattered. She ditched him for someone else.
Of course, she got her retribution. She wasn't happy in that marriage, but she was too prideful to raise the flag and leave the unhappy marriage. So, she always pretended and bragged about her marriage, giving that man the impression that she was boastful and happy.
Her actions very much hurt him. Unable to move on and live happily like others, he made a drastic move which shocked Sonia when she saw the dream. He committed suicide, but the resentment was too much. He didn't die peacefully at all.
As a result, that resentment turned into a curse which followed Sonia, who knew nothing about her previous life. Rather than living in a marriage like she did in her previous life, in this life, she was truly being mocked.
All the men she was with, at some point, truly loved each other. Otherwise, they wouldn't have successfully dated for a long time before getting married. Unfortunately, when they got married, the curse resurfaced.
