Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14: SETTLING MATTERS

She took out a bottle of water and unscrewed it before turning to face Liam, who was still coughing and passed the water to him.

Liam gratefully nodded at Sonia and hurriedly accepted the water.

He took several sips and felt very much relieved. The coughing stopped, and he patted his chest lightly while chiding himself for staring unabashedly and getting caught.

Sonia amusedly watched the young man, finding him so cute she wanted to pinch his cheeks. However, she stopped her naughty hands and waited until he was calm.

Seeing him calm and a bit shy, she asked as she crossed her leg over the other. "You haven't forgotten that you are supposed to visit your agency to terminate the contract, right?"

Upon hearing that, Liam raised his head to look at her and nodded, a faint smile on his face.

"I haven't forgotten about that."

"Good. You deal with that matter today. Just let Queen lead you and when you are done, pack your things. You should move into the estate by tomorrow. I will give you the rest of today," Sonia said, her tone solemn.

Liam nodded with relief at learning that he still had more time to deal with his private matters.

"Thank you. I will deal with all my affairs and come and settle down."

There was a faint smile on her face when he said that. "Don't let me down!"

Liam nodded his head reverently when he heard that. How could he let her down with everything that she had done for him?

Sonia was satisfied with his response.

Throughout the journey, no words were spoken, but they were very harmonious.

After being in the car for an hour or so, the car finally stopped. When it did, Sonia looked affectionately at the tall building in front of her.

That was her baby. The headquarters of the Group she formed in the past decade. It was never easy for her to reach the stage she was at right now, but every step she took was worth it.

Seeing the fruit of her labor, she was filled with emotions. She couldn't help but turn to look at Liam, who was craning his neck trying to take a glance at the building.

Seeing that, she couldn't help but hope. 'May I also hold a child in this life!' praying that the deities would show her mercy.

Even if she couldn't hold a child of her own. At least let her be with someone who would love her without faltering. Can that be done?

She hurriedly shook those thoughts from her mind and loosened her serious expression before speaking to Liam, who was now meekly looking at her as if he were a lamb that was about to be sacrificed. He looked cute.

"My driver will send you to your place first. Queen will contact you shortly after. Don't forget!" she reminded with a solemn gaze and the young man nodded in acknowledgement.

With everything said, Sonia stretched her legs as he readied to alight from the car.

Liam, upon seeing that, suddenly started feeling uneasy knowing that he was about to be separated from her for two days.

He had met her just yesterday, and yet it felt as if he had known her for ages. He felt panicked. However, he didn't want to be labeled as clingy or bad. So, he suppressed his thoughts.

Sonia, after feeling her legs, packed her things in her bag, gave Liam a glance and acted as if she wanted to say something but no words were uttered in the end.

The door to the car opened, and she alighted smoothly from the car and her handbag was taken by Gerald. Once she was on the ground, she turned briefly to look at Liam and said, "Remember who you belong to!" in a domineering manner before walking away.

Dong. Dong.

What does she mean?

He wondered curiously, his heart racing wildly as he felt his face flushing with shyness. The answer to that question shortly rang in his ears as Gerald's familiar voice advised, "She means that don't make her lose face. She is behind you. So, face whatever comes your way with confidence!" before the door was closed.

Badum. Badum. Badum.

His heart was on a beating spree as the car started moving away from the building.

'Remember who you belong to!'

"Agh~~~~ how can she say that?" he screamed as he held his head, stomping his feet exaggeratedly as he felt the heat rising to his ears.

She was simply too outspoken. How could she make her heart race with such words?

'I am in trouble!' that's what flashed in his mind as he continued to feel his heart racing even wildly.

It took him a while to calm down. Luckily, he was by himself and the driver couldn't hear a single thing.

He didn't know how long he was in the car, but after a while, lost in a daze, he heard the driver's voice through the intercom.

"Master, we have arrived!" and that jolted him out of his reverie.

"Ahem …. Thank you for the drive!" he cleared his throat and thanked the driver.

Moments later, someone opened the door for him and he politely alighted while nodding at the other person.

Once he was out of the car, the person who opened the door for him said, "Master, we shall be leaving one car for you. The driver will take you to your destination once you are done!"

Liam acknowledged the man's words without any objection. After all, Sonia had cued him about that.

"Um, thank you," he said politely before walking away from the entourage of cars.

Liam walked quickly from the road before finding himself walking into the complex where he had been staying for a while.

"Hello!" he greeted the friendly guard at the gate and the gateman greeted back.

"Hello. You look great!"

Liam flashed a smile as he looked at the outfit he was wearing and also felt that he looked great as well.

He exchanged a few pleasantries with him before continuing his journey in a hurry.

On his way to the apartment, he came across some familiar faces and he chatted with them as he continued with his journey.

After a while, he was in his room and smiled abashedly as he thought about something.

His apartment was very neat. A studio apartment without much to see but everything was organized.

After waking up from the hospital, he didn't have a lot of money like he used to have before. Staying in a luxurious apartment couldn't be done. So, he ended up moving to this complex. Although he was living in a studio apartment, the complex's security couldn't be underestimated.

His popularity wasn't that high as well. So, he wasn't at risk at all. The people here barely recognized him as a celebrity. Presumably in their eyes, he was just a handsome young man. Pleasant to look at and chat with.

Once he was inside, he walked straight to the wardrobe while fishing out his phone from the pocket. While doing so, the marriage certificate book also came out. He couldn't help but look adoringly at the certificate that now tied him to someone he never thought would be connected to in his life.

'Should I call this luck or bad luck?'
