"Who was that?"
"Is she a new manager?"
"Perhaps a new artist!"
Those who saw her were filled with curiosity and a few managed to take photos and share them in the groups, inquiring about the identity of Queen. With such drama happening online, the two people concerned shortly found themselves being cautiously ushered into the CEO's office.
"Ms. Rivers and Liam, Mr. Harrison is waiting for you inside!"
Queen unceremoniously nodded as she pushed Liam forward and the secretary nervously looked at the duo, wondering why Liam would bother to find that scary lawyer in the first place.
Could it be that he wanted to negotiate or sue the company? But what did the company do to him?
She couldn't help but find herself so curious. She was feeling as if ants were crawling on her body. The anxiety was killing her.
Meanwhile, inside the office, Harrison looked at Queen with a complicated expression, thinking about how this scary woman suddenly made an appointment with him last night. Her tone was filled with unquestionable authority, which made him cower to even bother asking why she wanted to meet.
However, when he saw her with Liam, he suddenly had an idea, but now the question was, why?
Queen's lips rose in a smirk as she looked at the familiar acquaintance in front of her. Being a lawyer, what had she not come across?
He wasn't exactly her client, but one of his friends was her client. It could be said that their circle was pretty small, and they met frequently. So it wasn't that hard having each other's contact.
"Please, be seated!" Harrison politely said as he gestured for the guests to sit.
Liam sat down with a polite smile on his face and didn't dare show any displeasure. After all, he couldn't truly blame the CEO for what happened to him.
"Thank you, Harrison!" Queen playfully said as she crossed her legs, revealing her beautiful legs. Thankfully, they were hidden beneath the desk. Thus, only Liam caught a glimpse of it but looked away quickly.
Harrison nearly rolled his eyes at Queen's shamelessness but still suppressed his emotions as he shifted his gaze towards Liam briefly before returning to Queen.
"So, Ms. Rivers. How may I help you today? I believe that I currently don't have any pending lawsuits against me or any that were filed with the company or against the company under your firm."
Queen's smile widened when she heard that. She squinted at Harrison and nodded as she responded, "Indeed. We weren't supposed to meet but who made me know this young talented man here?" a sigh escaped her as she briefly glanced at Liam and Harrison saw that.
He wasn't sure who this young man was. After all, his company has a lot of artists.
"This …. Could it be that you want me to help you sign him? How talented is he?" Harrison cautiously asked as he sized Liam.
Handsomeness. Check.
Youthfulness. Check.
As for talent …. Um …. He wasn't sure. He would need to verify. However, with Queen here. Perhaps the young man had what it takes.
When Liam heard that, he choked in disbelief. He had been with the company for years and, at some point, earned the company a lot of money. So, how come this man didn't even know him?
Was he that mediocre?
He wasn't the only one shocked, but Queen as well. She dumbfoundedly looked at Harrison in complete disbelief at what she was hearing.
Even Harrison noticed that there was something wrong with the way everyone was looking at him. He embarrassingly scratched his nose and looked at Queen, asking, "Did I say something wrong?"
"Huh!" Queen chuckled angrily as she raised her hands to massage her aching temples, already picturing the kind of life Liam would have lived if he were to continue with this company.
When Harrison saw that, he shuddered as he felt shivers down his spine. Knowing that Queen was angry and that there was something that he was definitely missing here and yet was unable to comprehend. Just what was it exactly?
His head was already starting to ache. However, when Queen opened her mouth and started accusing him, realization finally dawned on him and he had one thought: 'I am doomed!'
"It's funny that you, as the CEO of this agency, don't even know the people who work for you. I do understand that you have recently taken over, but aren't you a bit too lazy and carefree?"
"I …"
"But that doesn't concern me anymore. I am here to terminate his contract. His name is Liam, and he has been with your company for like five years and his contract is set to expire in four to five years to come."
The more Harrison heard, the more embarrassed he became. If it wasn't for his liking towards those few female artists in the company, he wouldn't have bothered to buy the company. He wasn't interested in the operation of the agency, to be honest.
After all, he didn't make a living that much in the company. He was here to play around. So, the matter of knowing who was who was left to others. As long as his interests are met, who cares about other things?
However, he regretted it at that very moment. After all, the firecracker was angry, and he just happened not to know the person that Queen was representing. If his father and grandfather were to learn of that, he could already foresee how miserable he was going to be.
It wasn't looking good for him at all.
"I don't care about why you bought this company, but do me a favor and sign the termination contract with my client. If I don't get that damn termination today and, at this hour, I don't mind sharing the little entertainment news I found while looking into Twilight. I believe that you wouldn't want to lose your fun when you have just started. Isn't that right, Harry?" Queen's teasing voice sounded in Harrison's ears and the man shuddered with fear.
His back was drenched in cold sweat, recalling how wild and crazy Queen at times could go once she found a target.
Queen, at her tender age, owned and founded a famous law firm. It was an agency that made a lot of law students clamor to go there. Queen had never lost a case ever since she started representing people. Her clientele list was very rich and even a few of his friends were her clients.
So, of course, he knew how cruel she could be to her opponents. Seeing her here in person, representing Liam, he didn't have any recollection of. Meant that Liam wasn't as simple as he seemed. Or the person backing him was someone that Queen took very seriously. Otherwise, she could have left this simple matter to others and yet she took it.
What did that mean?
