Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 16: TERMINATION OF CONTRACT

A smile blossomed on Sonia's face when she heard that. Her eyes crinkled as the image of that young man popped into her mind. Rita, who was startled by the sudden realization, saw that things might be more serious than she thought.

If that was the case, then the assignment this time shouldn't be rejected, but accepted at all costs.

"Thank you for the well wishes," Sonia sincerely responded, intertwining her fingers as she looked at Rita.

Seeing the polite smile on the other's face, Sonia knew that it was time to get down to business.

"I believe that you should have heard from Gerald what I want you to do."

"Yes, I heard it. Becoming the agent of Master Liam," Rita smoothly responded, and Sonia nodded.

"Um, that's indeed the case. What is your thought about that? Do you want to take on the assignment or continue with what you were supposed to do before he came into the picture?" Sonia asked without an ounce of coercion in her tone.

Whilst taking care of Liam was of great importance to Sonia. Rita was like her child, her apprentice, her disciple she had nurtured wholeheartedly. She had trained the other so much, she hoped to see her taking on greater tasks in the future.

People are born differently and have different dreams and goals in life. She didn't exactly want to be selfish and force Rita to take on the task of managing Liam when she didn't feel like it.

Liam was extremely important to her. It was a matter of life and death for her. So, handing him over to someone who doesn't care would be a huge risk. Thus, giving Rita a choice.

Badum. Badum. Badum.

When Rita heard that, her heart raced once more as she felt warmth coursing through her body. There was a reason why she stuck in this company for years. It's been five years since she started working for Sonia if she excludes the period when she interned during school.

Sonia despite being aloof and stoic most of the time. She was actually a very good boss who did not consider the feelings of the staff. Those who worked for her were always full of praise. However, it is true that people can't always satisfy everyone.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand. She was filled with so much excitement. Being given a choice, though she already knew the answer she was going to take, meant so much to her.

The previous assignment was very important, to be honest. Being given a chance to fly to another country and negotiate with that small tribe for that beverage recipe was something that she had been looking forward to ever since her report was approved.

Now that she was about to get that dream fulfilled, another task was put in front of her. What would be her choice?

Before she understood how much Liam meant to her boss earlier, she was even thinking about declining the offer. However, her mind changed. Moreover, with her boss giving her a choice, it wouldn't seem like she was forced to do something.

That would be her taking on this task wholeheartedly. At the same time, earning brownie points from her boss. Wasn't this choice the best?

So, without wasting too much of her boss's time, she wholeheartedly answered her boss. "Ma'am, I will manage the master and do my best to send the master to greater heights. Just leave everything to me!"

And that answer brought a smile to Sonia's face. Her eyes crinkled as that smile reached her eyes.

"Good! Good!" she exclaimed cheerfully as she leaned back in her chair filled with relief.

Rita was also happy upon seeing that.

'I made the right choice!'

It would be truly bad if she were to offend her boss for any reason.

With Rita accepting that task, Sonia's heart finally settled. Rita was competent and with her by Liam's side, she didn't need to worry about Liam getting bullied by anyone ever again.

At least, in these months to come, Liam would soar higher and she would try her best to find a way to keep him alive.

After all, she didn't want to become famous and cement the curse status that was already haunting her by having a husband who would die four months after the marriage.

That would be too insulting to her.

After Rita's agreement, Sonia briefed the other on what she expected Rita to do and the more Rita listened, the more her face twitched, but she forced herself to remain in control.

It was only after she left the office, that she looked back with a complicated gaze.

'Master, do you know what kind of hell hole you just sent yourself into?' suddenly she couldn't help but feel pity for the man she was about to manage.

However, those feelings were quickly shaken away as she thought about something.

'Regardless of the hellhole, you are still one very fortunate man!' as she walked away, she thought enviously again. Her thoughts were very contradictory, but who made her think?

It wasn't like it was a crime to do so.

Twilight Entertainment Agency

'I am back here again!' he sighed ruefully as he looked at the four-story building, the company he had been part of for years and yet had little to show for.

"Let's get inside. They are waiting!" suddenly a familiar female voice interrupted his thoughts, and he abashedly turned his head to look at the other and nodded.

"Um. Let's go!" he echoed her words as he raised his legs, walking forward.

Queen nodded her head as she followed the young man …. No …. Her fourth brother-in-law into the inhumane company, she felt repulsed to even think about.

Although she had always known that there was a lot of filth in every industry. She had never expected that some people were so daring to reach their hands where they shouldn't. But luckily for her, it was such kind of conduct that gave her leverage over others. That's why this trip was an interesting one.

She was looking forward to the drama that would unfold later. Anyway, as long as she does a good job, her friends will reward her well. Thinking about Sonia, Queen became determined to do a satisfactory job.

As soon as Liam stepped into the building. Honestly, he didn't cause a lot of waves. After all, his popularity had dwindled so much and the newcomers didn't even know who he was.

The reception was full of posters of those artists who were currently famous and among them was Sean, who made Liam scowl upon seeing him.

To think in order to climb high, a friend could betray his own and still act shamelessly. Liam felt disgusted by Sean. He didn't care about how others could use any means to reach the top. After all, he was also doing it now. But what he didn't like and hated the most was betrayal.

Parting on good terms was better than what those two did to him. Since they weren't benevolent to him, then he was going to use worse means to deal with them in the future. Let's see who would say what to who?

With such thoughts in mind, he quickly made his way upstairs to the CEO's office with Queen in tow. While he didn't cause any waves among the staff, Queen surely did.
