"I wish you a happy marriage!" Diana beamingly congratulated as she looked at the unexpected couple in front of her, thirty minutes later, after welcoming them into her office.
Sonia nodded nonchalantly at Diana, while holding the warm marriage certificate in her hand, and looked at Liam who had a faint smile on his face before returning her focus to Diana and responding, "Thank you for your care."
Diana waved her hands dismissively with a smile plastered on her face. "It's my duty. My duty!"
There was a faint smile on Sonia's face after hearing that.
"Then, let's meet again when we hold the ceremony!" Sonia flatly stated as she gave a nod at Diana and without waiting for her response, she started walking away.
"Hehe, I will be waiting for the invitation," Diana cheerfully responded as she trotted behind, following the couple who were blessed with long legs.
Liam followed behind Sonia, still in disbelief at what had just happened.
'I really got married!'
It still felt like a dream and one he didn't feel like waking up from.
Diana sent Sonia and Liam to the main hall before reluctantly watching the couple leave under the heavy guard from the security team.
Flash. Flash. Flash.
And who could have foreseen that in that short moment, there would be so many paparazzi snooping around?
'How did they even know?' Diana sighed resignedly as she returned to her office, the media friends' voices still ringing in her ears.
"Ms. Sawyers, did you get married?"
"Is that your fourth husband?"
"Who is he?"
"Do you mind sharing his identity?"
Diana shivered with fear at seeing how these media friends could jump on a person like a starving wolf. Seeing them throwing questions at the stoic woman, she couldn't help but be satisfied with her current life.
Life away from the cameras was indeed peaceful.
Meanwhile, on the couple's side, Liam's heart was drumming loudly as panic and anxiety filled him.
His forehead was dripping with sweat, and his back was drenched already. Never in a million years did he expect to be bombarded by so many paparazzi and reporters.
Even in his career as a singer, despite being hidden and sick. He had never received such attention before. The attention was too scary.
However, with the bodyguards shielding them, he felt much better as he finally settled in the backseat of the car.
"That was scary!" he sighed heavily as he patted his chest in relief.
Sonia's lips curled upwards when she heard that.
'How can he be so cute?' she squealed inwardly upon seeing his reaction.
Nonetheless, to keep his image intact, she pretended like she didn't see that and focused on the tablet in hand as the car drove away from the Bureau.
[Sonia Sawyers has just tied the knot for the fourth time. Now the question that is on everyone's mind is, 'WHO IS THE GROOM?']
There were several headlines like those, and Sonia didn't feel much upon seeing them. After all, she was indeed married and this time, she didn't mind letting these headlines ferment as long as they didn't expose Liam before he was ready.
That's why she told Gerald not to interfere or remove the hot searches at all. What was the point of hiding it?
After checking several headlines like those, she shifted to her inbox where loads of messages from family were waiting for her.
[Mom: Daughter, you got married. How come you didn't tell us?]
[Dad: I will not reprimand you or something, but if that's what you want then I wish you all the best. If you have time, bring him home.]
[Feli: You are too villainous. You married a nobody behind everyone's back and yet dared to interfere with my happiness. Sonia, I will not forgive you!]
[Queen: Happy marriage friend. Wish you happiness.]
[Tom: Happy marriage. Let's have dinner when you have time.]
[Jim: I bet that he is the lucky one. You really know how to keep secrets. Anyway, let's meet when you have time. I need to prepare the gift.]
[King: I am out of the country for two seconds and you are married already? Haha, you really know how to hide. Anyway, I wish you the best marriage this time. May you be blessed and I will bring your gift when I return.]
Sonia had mixed emotions after going through messages from family and friends. She replied only to those who wished her well and the rest she deleted, not wanting to anger herself once she saw them again.
While she was busy doing so, Liam, after calming down, was busy as well. After seeing his wife busy, he could only check his phone, curious about whether he had been recognized or not.
There were several headlines online, and they were talking about Sonia while digging out her previous three divorces. Seeing her life being aired in the open like that, Liam felt discomfort in his heart.
He didn't like it. Hearing other people mention the past when she was now his. Although their marriage wasn't based on love like others, at least they would be like ordinary couples. Taking into account that they would share the bed, even if it would be for conjugal reasons.
Anyway, not wanting to anger himself with that news, he checked his account. In case his few fans recognized him. After all, he could recognize himself from the photos posted. Luckily, he brought a mask. But it wasn't certain that he might not be exposed.
Unfortunately, after going through every post, he could. He found nothing on him.
Netizens were all curious about his identity and he didn't know how to feel about that.
'Am I that less popular?' that question came to his thoughts after finding that no one recognized him at all.
That made him feel disturbed. The thought of being unknown and forgotten when he only had a few months to live choked him.
He didn't want to be forgotten. He wanted at least a few people to remember that he once existed. Since they didn't know him now, he didn't mind leaving a good impression and living in everyone's hearts in these short months remaining for him.
With that in mind, he closed his phone and turned his head to look at the busy wife next to him.
Sonia had a cold aura surrounding her, even without her saying a single thing. However, instead of being pushed away by that, he found her actually attractive. After all, she was the kind of woman that no man would mess with. She was the kind of woman who knew what she wanted. The kind that attracted him.
She was better this way – cold and stoic. She should leave the smiling to him lest she attract more men who would compete with him and be more powerful than him.
He wasn't sure what the future would hold, but at this very moment, he was going to do his best with this wife who fell from the heavens.
"What are you looking at?" suddenly her cold voice rang in his ears, startling him as he didn't expect her to be so direct like that.
"Cough …ahem," he couldn't help but choke on his saliva at the unexpected ambush, his fist on his mouth.
Sonia looked dumbfoundedly at the husband coughing a fit after being caught gazing.
'What is wrong with him?' she wondered as she turned her head to her left before stretching her hand towards the small fridge in the car.
