Now five years later, instead of hurting herself by letting him stay with her. She might as well live separately and only meet when being intimate. She didn't want to develop feelings for someone who might not love her in this lifetime. She didn't believe that with all that resentment he had in his past life, he would love her easily.
Moreover, he was a dying man. Not that she was complaining. She didn't have full confidence that she would be able to save him. After all, even the doctors failed to do so. So, before the feelings were certain, she didn't want to give herself hope. Thus, she would repay him with other means but also try to make him love her genuinely this time around.
She didn't know how that would go, but she was hopeful. Otherwise, she wouldn't dare ask him to marry her boldly like that after knowing him shortly.
When she got to her quarters, she opened the door directly and stepped inside. She took a deep breath as the familiar floral scent of roses, her birthday flowers welcomed her.
The door closed, and the lights turned automatically, revealing the enormous room which looked more like an apartment than a normal room.
There was a red carpet covering the wooden titles, and on the walls, there were several paintings hung, though she wasn't certain of others. She randomly purchased them to make the bedroom look livelier.
The first place that welcomes anyone who steps inside is the welcoming hall, which she also named a mini living room. She can relax there, watch TV and entertain guests in that space.
After passing that space, the bedroom was next. The bedroom was large and from the entrance, the bright red curtains were quite eye catchy. They matched her outfit pretty well.
The bed was customized and there were red bed covers on it, making it look as if there was going to be some honeymoon of some sort.
She bypassed the bedroom and walked towards the walk-in closet, which from the bedroom looked like an ordinary room until you stepped inside.
She used to be in awe whenever she stepped into the closet in the first year of living at the estate, but now she was so used to it. Everything felt normal.
The closet was very large, and what she truly liked about the whole place was the arrangement. There were seven clothing blocks in the closet, and each block contained a certain color scheme.
It started like a joke eight years ago but then ended up turning into some kind of OCD she had to live with and didn't actually mind getting rid of.
The seven blocks in their respective colors were white, pink, black, green, purple, brown, and red. These seven colors represented the days of the week, from Monday to Sunday.
Every single day, Sonia wore the corresponding color without fail. Having several favorite colors, she felt that since she was rich, she couldn't favor one over the other. So, a crazy idea formed in her head, resulting in this in the end.
Anyway, after following that for eight years, she found the whole thing very normal and so did the others who knew her.
It was a Sunday, that's why she was wearing red. She walked towards the red block, ignored the clothes hung and pulled the drawers with nightwear and robes. She picked a matching pair from the drawers plus underwear before closing the drawers.
After that, she walked to another door which, after opening, revealed the fancy bathroom with a large tub and shower head.
She took off the clothes she was wearing and put them neatly in the laundry basket before walking towards the shower, where she took her time to cleanse herself of that day's filth.
After the beautiful shower, she wore the nightwear and put the robe on top before leaving the bedroom, feeling very refreshed.
It was nearly dinner time, and she was about to go downstairs when her phone started ringing.
She dragged her feet to where the handbag was and fished the phone out.
"Who is calling again?" she asked grumbly as she looked at the screen, but when she saw the person calling, a smile blossomed on her face.
She hurriedly swiped the screen to answer, "Dear, do you miss me?" her voice sounding coy as she walked towards the door.
