"Let me go!"
Pinned to the ground by someone sitting on her back, Nami wasmortified. Even if her opponent was another woman, the situation was humiliating. "Let me go!" she shouted again, gritting her teeth.
Leo, however, was in a bind.
He had only counter-attacked in self-defense after Nami had initiated the fight. He needed to stop her from seeing his face. But now that he had her subdued, he had no idea what to do next.
If he let her go, would she attack again? And at such a close distance, all she had to do was look back, and his identity would be revealed. He couldn't let that happen. All of his current abilities came from his aunt; they weren't his own. They might only last for the night, and by morning, he could be back to being a normal, powerless human.
But he couldn't just stay there all night, either.
Maybe I should just knock her out.
A flicker of hesitation crossed Leo's mind. He was worried he might accidentally use too much force.
While he was contemplating his next move, Nami arched her body, raising her one free leg high into the air. With surprising flexibility, she hooked her foot, still clad in its green shoe, around Leo's neck.
"Ugh!"
Leo's throat was suddenly caught in a vice-like grip, and he was forced to lean back. Knowing she was trying to break free, he held on tight, keeping her left ankle pinned with one hand while increasing the pressure on her wrists with the other, determined not to give her an opening.
Crack!
The sound of straining bones echoed in the quiet night.
The two of them were locked in a stalemate, a test of endurance. Nami, on the bottom, was bent into an almost perfect arch, her slender waist looking like it might snap at any moment. Leo, sitting on top of her, could feel the incredible strength and flexibility of the body beneath him.
"Let go of my neck!" Leo wanted to shout.
But Nami beat him to it. "Let me go!" she yelled, pulling back with her hooked foot with all her might, her body twisting and struggling beneath him.
"!!!" Leo's eyes shot wide open.
Because of Nami's pulling and constant struggling, his body was being shifted backward. What had started as him sitting on her back was quickly turning into something… else.
And he was wearing a very short skirt.
Nami, completely unaware of this horrifying development, sensed a stiffness in Leo's body and mistook it for him losing his strength. She began to struggle even more fiercely.
The quality of her spider-suit was excellent, but it was also designed to be thin and breathable for acrobatic movements. It wasn't exactly thick armor…
"Oh, no."
Leo groaned, unsure if what he was feeling was pleasure or torture. The fiery heat that had been coursing through his body began to surge downward.
"What the—?"
Nami finally realized that something was wrong. There was an unknown object under the skirt, pressing against her back through the thin layer of her suit.
Seizing the moment, Leo let go of her ankle and grabbed one of the nearby loose webs. He quickly wrapped it around her wrists like a rope, then used the rest to bind the foot that was still hooked around his neck.
With that done, he leaped off her, snatched his sword from the iron door, and vaulted toward the building on the opposite street without a second glance.
Perhaps it was luck, or perhaps the night's events had given him a better feel for his powers. This time, he controlled his strength perfectly, clearing the twenty-meter gap and landing squarely on the water tower of the opposite building. After a few more powerful leaps, the figure with the silver hair disappeared into the snowy city night.
Ten seconds later, a furious scream echoed from the rooftop.
"You damn bastard, I'm going to kill you!"
"Where are you?! Get back here!"
Having freed herself from the webs, Nami, her face burning with shame under her hood, began swinging madly between the high-rise buildings, her black-and-white suit a blur against the night sky.
From half a street away, Leo could still hear her enraged shouts.
"You can't blame me for that," he muttered with a wry smile, looking down at the very obvious bulge in his skirt. He quickly hid in a shadowed corner of the roof. A moment later, Nami zipped past a nearby building on a web line and disappeared into the distance.
"This time," Leo sighed, waiting for… things to calm down, "I can finally go home."
He stepped out of the shadows, sword in hand, and looked around. Spotting a familiar landmark, he quickly figured out where he was: on the outskirts of Loguetown, more than ten kilometers from his home.
How in the world did I end up here?
"Do I have to jump all the way back?" he wondered with a feeling of helplessness. But just as he was about to set off, the unexpected happened.
BOOM!
The building he was standing on shuddered violently.
"What was that?" Leo thought it was his imagination, but a second later, another clear vibration shook the building. He quickly looked around at the city. It wasn't just his building; all the high-rises nearby were trembling.
An earthquake?
The thought barely had time to form before he dismissed it. His senses, now far beyond human limits, could perceive things others couldn't. The source of the tremors wasn't coming from beneath the earth. It was coming from somewhere on the surface, within the city itself.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Every few seconds, the ground and buildings would shake, as if a colossal hammer were slamming against the city streets.
"It's not far from here," Leo muttered, peering down at a spot in the distance.
As if to confirm his suspicions, a massive explosion erupted.
BOOM!
In his line of sight, a building two or three kilometers away roared and collapsed. The peace of the winter night was shattered by an unknown horror.
And that was just the beginning.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BOOM!
The deafening roar of cannons and explosions followed, a continuous, deafening barrage like a summer thunderstorm, centered on the collapsed building. A massive fire erupted, its flames licking at the sky and spreading rapidly, turning a section of the city into a blazing inferno.
And then, from the heart of that man-made hell, came a terrifying roar. It was a sound that was not human, not animal, a sound that drowned out even the thunder of the cannons.
"What is that?"
Leo's eyes widened. He stared at the center of the flames and smoke, catching a glimpse of a colossal, yellow-green shadow.
In that moment, it was as if he was seeing the true, hidden face of the world for the very first time.
