"What did I tell you princess?" He asked in a low husky voice," Didn't I tell you to stay in the carriage?" He repeated as he took a step closer, staring deep into my eyes. His voice like a warning.
"Y..yo..you d..did" I said in a shaky voice, " but am not one to follow orders blindly, especially when I have no Idea what is going on." I managed to say.
He remained silent for a while his expression still the same," and what do you think is going on?". What kind of question was that..we both knew what was going on," We were under attack and I wasn't going to hide in the carriage while you walked into danger. "
I finally managed to get a reaction from him, he seemed to be surprised by what I said," Danger? You think you know what danger looks like?" He took another step forward, now our faces only inches apart, I felt my breath catch in my throat," Sometimes the greatest danger is what's right infront of you and not the one you can't see."
Was that a warning?
My eyes locked onto his, my heart racing at the unspoken message. I knew he wasn't just talking about external threats; he was warning me about himself.
"What happened to the attackers?" I asked as I took two steps back to create space between us," how are you the only person out here? Why were they following us? What did they want?" I had so many questions
I replayed the event in my head, we were under attack and he went out to face them. The sound of swords clashing could be heard but when I got out there was nothing. Only the man who left me in the carriage minutes ago. Did he kill them? But their bodies would be in sight right? There's no way they would just disappear.
I waited for his response, eager to hear what really happened. He took his time, never averting his gaze from mine. Then he finally spoke,"Now are you going to get back in the carriage or do I need to take matters into my own hands?"
