The journey to Ravoy Kingdom felt like we had been on the road for months, with us only stopping to get food and freshen up. Alex frequently checked on me to make sure I was comfortable and I appreciated that but riding in a cottage for days was not comfortable at all.
"We're here" I heard them say, the grand palace stood majestically atop a hill, its marble facade glistening like polished moonlight, a flurry of maids bustled about its opulent halls, Their silken dresses rustled softly as they hurried to complete their daily tasks. Delicate archways and intricately carved pillars seemed to dance across the palace's surface, as if frozen in a moment of joyous celebration. The palace's golden domes rose toward the sky, their tips gleaming with a soft, ethereal light.
Inside, the maids moved with quiet efficiency, polishing the glittering chandeliers until they sparkled like stars and dusting the rich tapestries that whispered stories of ancient lore. As they worked, they'd pause to admire the grand staircases that curved like swans' necks, leading to secret chambers and hidden gardens, where fountains sang sweet melodies and flowers bloomed in every color of the rainbow.
One maid, her dark hair tied back in a neat bun, smiled as she arranged a bouquet of fresh flowers in a grand vase, the scent of roses and lavender wafting through the air. Another, her hands moving deftly as she embroidered an intricate pattern onto a silk fabric, hummed a soft tune, her voice blending with the palace's gentle music.
There were hidden symbols etched into the walls, said to hold the secrets of the palace's mysterious past. Some claimed that on certain nights, when the moon was full, the symbols would glow with a soft, ethereal light, revealing hidden passages and secret rooms.
"The Queen of Ravoy Kingdom has arrived," a soldier said, everyone stopped what they were doing and when they saw me, they appeared to be in disbelief. They bowed but it was pretty evident that none of the maids were happy to see me. But one maid, probably the same age as I was, wasn't really good at hiding it.
"Don't mind them they are just jealous. Welcome to your new home," Alex whispered..The palace was indeed beautiful but something felt wrong about it, it felt familiar, Have I been here before?
