Chapter 1 - Reincarnation

I never believed in that made-up bullshit known as reincarnation. The bedtime stories my mother read to me as a kid seemed fake and an overused idea, until they weren't

I heard distant chattering, but all my surroundings were jet-black except for this light radiating in front of me, as if it was trying to guide me towards it.

Following the light, I slowly opened my eyes to a blurry figure standing atop of me

my eyes slowly adjusting to my surroundings,

and the first thing I noticed was that I wasn't in a hospital nor was I inside of a house.

But instead, I was in this dimly lit chamber filled with these strange runic markings along the walls and ceiling.

Before I could realize what was going on, a rush of warmth suddenly flooded my infant body.

The heat was unbearable, but what could I do? I was still just a child in an unknown world

as the feeling of warmth dissipated, a benevolent voice sounded throughout the chamber

"congrats missus and mister veylor your son is bound to the fire element."

pointing at the runic symbol that was slowly engraving itself on the back of my hand.

my body felt weird like something other than blood was trying to spread through my body but it had no way of doing so.

"Hey little Silas..." a woman with light brown hair said with an exhausted but soft tone like she had been crying.

"Are you sure you don't need any rest honey?" a male who didn't look anything over his thirties whom I assumed was my father asked,

his hands were coated in a luminous blue light that shrouded with ripples like flowing water, that seemed to cause the women's breathing to slowly steady itself

"yes, I'm fine dear, I just can't believe our son is going to be a fire mage!", the women exclaimed"

those words hit me hard, like i had just been punched in the guts, what did she mean "mage" let alone an "fire mage"

I thought people like that only existed inside the fantasy books i used to read after work.

"Come on, lets get you guys out of here" my father said before he bent down to pick me up from out of my mothers hands.
