They continued walking.
Soon, they passed a clothing store, and Selena spotted a dress in the window.
It was so beautiful that she couldn't help but stare at it.
Lucian noticed how much she liked it.
"Do you want it?" he asked.
She looked at him before quickly shaking her head. "No, no. It would cost a lot."
"Don't worry. I can—
"
She quickly cut him off. "It's fine."
"Okay," he replied.
Selena looked up and noticed that it was getting darker.
"I think we should go back."
"Yes," Lucian agreed.
They both returned to the car and drove back to her house.
When they arrived, Selena got out and gave him a small wave goodbye before standing there for a moment.
She was beginning to have mixed feelings, but she couldn't quite describe what she was feeling.
She finally went inside.
After she finished eating dinner, her phone buzzed. She picked up her phone and saw his message.
"I'll give you time to figure things out, and whatever you decide, I will respect your decision."
"Thank you," Selena typed back.
"He's so understanding," she thought, smiling.
She put her phone down and went to bed.
Meanwhile, Lucian was in his room when someone knocked on the door.
"Come in," he said.
A servant walked in.
"Sir, your mom sent for you. She's in the sitting room."
"I'm coming," he replied.
The servant left.
Lucian went downstairs and saw all of them sitting together. When they heard his footsteps, they stopped talking and looked at him.
"Why are all of you staring at me?" he asked.
"Why won't we?" his grandmother replied.
He walked over and sat down beside his mom.
Lucian didn't reply. Then he noticed Wendy wasn't there.
"Where's Wendy?"
"She hasn't come down. She's upstairs," his mom replied.
"Okay. Now, why aren't you guys saying anything? Why did you call me here?"
"Your mom said you scared the girl. That's why she didn't agree," his grandpa said.
"Lucian, you should learn how to sweet-talk a girl, or you'll remain single forever," his grandma added.
"I don't mind," Lucian replied.
They all looked at him.
"Lucian, are you being serious?" his mom asked.
"I tried talking to her."
"Then try harder," his grandma said.
"Why don't you guys do it yourselves? And why are you suddenly in such a rush for me to get married?"
They all went quiet and looked at one another without saying anything.
Lucian was starting to get annoyed.
"Mom, Grandma, Grandpa, I have work tomorrow. I'm going to bed."
He was about to stand up when his mom held him back.
"Where do you think you're going?"
"Mom, I have work tomorrow."
"Lucian, are you going to use your whole life just to work? Give yourself a few days to relax and have some fun," his grandma said.
"No, Grandma. I'm fine."
"You are just so stubborn, just like your dad," his grandpa said.
Lucian went upstairs to his room.
He took out his laptop and started working. Suddenly, someone burst into his room.
He knew who it was without even looking up.
"Wendy, why are you here?"
"Why can't I come into my brother's room? Am I not allowed?" she asked as she sat on his bed.
"You know I don't mean it that way. I mean, what do you want?"
"Nothing."
Lucian continued typing on his laptop.
"Wendy, what do you want to say?" he asked again.
He knew his sister very well. She definitely had something to tell him.
"Why are they telling you to get married?"
Lucian stopped what he was doing when he heard her question. He closed his laptop, walked over to her, and sat beside her.
"Don't listen to what they're saying, okay?" he said.
"But they keep telling you to get married," she replied.
Lucian took a deep breath and held her hand.
"Those are adult matters, okay? Just focus on your exams coming up."
"But I'm eighteen already. I'm not a little girl," she protested.
"Okay, I know," Lucian said with a smile. "It's late already, so go to bed."
"Okay, brother."
Wendy left the room, and Lucian didn't continue what he was doing. He simply went to bed.
The next morning, when Lucian came downstairs, he saw that everyone was about to eat.
"Good morning," he greeted them.
"Good morning, brother," Wendy greeted him.
He rubbed her head affectionately before sitting down. He ate a little before getting up.
"Mom, Grandma, Grandpa, I'm off," he said.
"But you didn't eat much," his mom said.
"Why don't you take something with you?" his grandma suggested.
"I'm fine," he replied before leaving.
"He's so stubborn, just like his grandpa," Grandma said.
"I'm sitting right next to you," Grandpa replied.
They all laughed.
Meanwhile, Selena was already at the office before Lucian arrived.
Elias was explaining what she needed to do and what she shouldn't do. He also introduced her to the other employees.
"This is the new assistant."
"Hello," Selena said, waving at them.
They greeted her back.
Elias then took her to her office.
"Wait, I get to have my own office?" she asked.
"Yes. Your office is very close to the CEO's office," Elias replied.
He left her to settle in.
A few minutes later, Elias returned.
"The boss has arrived."
Selena quickly stood up and went to the CEO's office. She knocked on the door.
"Come in," Lucian said.
When she entered, she saw him typing on his laptop. She couldn't see his face clearly.
"Good morning, sir," she greeted.
Lucian finally raised his head.
Selena froze.
She was completely speechless.
"Lucian? What are you doing here?"
He raised one eyebrow.
"Because I own it," he replied.
"No way..." she whispered.
She had spent the whole morning worrying about her first day at work. She never imagined she would walk into the company and discover that Lucian was her CEO.
"Selena," Lucian interrupted, "I'm busy right now. We can talk after work, okay?"
"Okay... sir," she quickly corrected herself."
she was about to leave his office when he called her back.
"Update this file."
She nodded and left.
Selena went to her office, she thought about it.
"OMG, and I even let him open the door for me."
A few minutes later, Lucain appeared at her office. Selena was busy working when she suddenly looked up and saw him standing there.
She froze for a moment, clearly surprised.
'Um… what do you want, sir?' she asked, quickly standing up from her chair."
Lucian simply smiled.
