Chapter 1 - An unfathomable experience

*Ring*

The academy's bell rang ever so loudly, signifying the conclusion of the day's lecture. It was just another Thursday for the students of Flemming's Academy Of Mages, FAM. All the young mages quickly started to make their way to their respective dorms to rest and reprieve themselves from the tedium of listening to the teachers talking about the history of how magic and cultivation were brought about in the world.

Almost every single individual knew the story, as they were told it from when they were young.

Sweeping his way through the crowd with crutches under his armpits, Chuck nervously headed to his dorm room, in hopes that no annoying person will taunt or remind him about how much of a waste he is.

It had only been a week since his parents sent him to the academy, hoping that he could maybe unlock a hidden potential in his powers. And during his stay here, life only got harder and more challenging for him.

Prestigious and talented students that were also sent to the academy, displayed powers that are nothing short or breathtaking. While other students had the power to manipulate their mana in ways that made them produce amazing feats like the conjuring of fire, lightning, and other elemental and non-elemental abilities, Chuck was seen as the true definition of useless.

He couldn't tap into his mana pool, talk less of even trying to conjure any magical Element. His family and friends all saw him as a waste of space and oxygen, as he was the most useless thing that ever happened to them.

He constantly got bullied and pushed around. And when he tried to fight back, he got severe beatings that made him contemplate his very existence. One of these beatings was the reason as to why he lost the ability to walk properly without any form of assistance. And instead of his family to get him help or treat him using their magic, they let him suffer, making his existence even more of a torture.

Desperately trying to increase his pace as beads of sweats started forming in his temple, Chuck hoped today would be different. That maybe, just maybe he would have a full 24 hours where someone will not attack him or annoy him.

After a few minutes of walking like the ground hated his very existence, his dorm building finally came into view. Chuck tried to increase his pace with a little smile slowly forming on his face. But that minute pathetic joy that he felt was short lived.

Bobby, a tyrant of a student, who got his reputation by bullying those weaker than him was seen in Chuck's view.

The moment Bobby spotted Chuck, a large grin formed in face making it seem like the corners of his lips were one centimeter away from touching his eyes. With a slow and precise motion, he proceeded to Chuck's position.

As he moved, the students that were in a close proximity to him started backing away and increased the distance between him and themselves, in a subtle manner.

As Chuck saw Bobby moving towards him, the amount of sweat that was being produced on his face started increasing gradually.

"Ohh no. Not again. Not this son of a bitch," Chuck cursed under his breath.

"I have to avoid him at all costs. I'm only about a hundred meters away from absolute peace and quiet. And Bobby is not going to be the person to disrupt it. Not today"

With a more quickened pace, Chuck changed his direction and started moving in a perpendicular trajectory in hopes that he could evade Bobby's wrath. Bobby, noticing that Chuck was trying to get away, controlled the air around him, and swiftly elevated himself from his position and landed directly in front of Chuck.

"Bobby. W… wh.. what do you want this time," Chuck asked with a slightly startled expression.

"What the fuck do you mean by that statement, you useless piece of shit?" Bobby asked with an emerging agitation in his voice.

"You're mine, boy, and no one else. I'll play with you when I want, and I'll let you breathe, when. I. Want"

At that moment Chuck started gasping for air as he started suffocating. Bobby controlled the air around Chuck's head and made it disperse, making it impossible for Chuck to breathe. Chuck started clawing at his throat, as his legs buckled out of weakness.

After almost a minute of this silent torture, Bobby stopped using his magic and with a loud gasp, Chuck started breathing heavily as he life flashed before him.

Coughs after coughs, followed as his bloodshot eyes started regaining composure.

"If I kill you, who will I play with huh?. Out of all the weak and pathetic people, you are the weakest, and the most pathetic person out there"

"Your very existence is proof that mother nature isn't as kind as we think she is, you weak fuck"

Bystanders started laughing at his comment as they watched the amusing scene unfold.

"You were about to head to your dorm right? Let me help you with that"

Bobby started moving his hands in a circular motion, and all of a sudden, the movement of the wind shifted to his will. A small gathering of dust surrounded Chuck, as he was on the floor.

With a fast pace, the tiny looking tornado of dust grew bigger till it engulfed Chuck and lifted his being from the floor. Bobby waved his hand and in an instant, the tornado threw Chuck to the direction of his dorm.

Chuck landed with a heavy thud right by his door, and with a loud groan, he lifted himself just high up to be able to reach the handle of the door.

Detecting his fingerprints, the door opened, and Chuck proceeded to crawl over to his room.

Quickly closing the door behind him, he reached for his bed and collapsed on it with the last strength he could muster. This was the pain and torture of being a weakling. He had no friends, no help, and no one to come to his aid. Even other weak students avoided him because he was just too pathetic for them.

Closing his eyes, he quickly dozed off, as that was the only moment he was able to escape reality.

*BANG*

A little explosion sound woke Chuck up from his slumber, making him jolt and almost fall off his bed.

With a raving mind, he wondered what could be the reason for the noise, because it was currently midnight.

"Maybe it's those assholes trying to rile me up. But in the middle of the night? Don't they have anything better to do? I better go check it out"

Staggering towards his door,he reached his hand out towards his spare crutches that he had, just in case he lost his previous ones…which he did.

With a slow and silent movement, Chuck left his room and started moving towards where he thought he heard the noise.

That was when he saw it. A golden glowing silhouette was hovering in place, slightly illuminating the dark night. With a curious but careful gaze, Chuck advanced towards the glowing light slowly.

And all of sudden, the glow accelerated toward his position and shrouded his being in its overwhelming beam. Chuck, with an extreme fright, felt a chill run down his spine as he was covered in this strange energy.

And that was when he felt a sudden discomfort. The beam of golden energy started entering his body through every possible hole there is. Chuck tried to fight it, but nothing happened as he couldn't even control a mere mana energy.

After all the energy had entered his being, he suddenly started to convulse violently as though he was evolving into an entirely different being.

Several overlapping voices glitched inside his head. And then he saw a translucent screen, with several inscriptions in strange languages. Languages that he somehow managed to comprehend.
