I no longer call everyone
"close people,"
because it's the hands of the closest
that leave the deepest wounds.
I've learned—
not every smile is genuine,
not every word is trustworthy,
and not every friendship offers refuge.
Some come to share stories,
some come to pass the time,
and some come
only to take what they need and leave.
I didn't stop them,
because forcing someone to stay
doesn't save a relationship,
it only slowly kills your self-respect.
Now I've learned to stay silent—
this silence is my protest,
this distance is my peace.
I'm not a bad person,
I've just realized—
you can't give everything to everyone,
some people are only beautiful up to a boundary.
And yes, 🌱
the ones you trust,
the ones you give to or confide in—
you must honor their dignity,
otherwise, they'll never be worthy of your trust.
