MY HOME, LIVING ROOM
7:43 PM
"Sniffle…!" "Sniffle…!"
A guy with black hair and, if you squint your eyes in a slit, a very painfully average face, wearing a white shirt and charcoal black trousers, was sitting near me.
He was crying—no, that would be an understatement. He was bawling while stuffing his mouth with pizzas, burgers, and Cokes that were bought with my money.
My fucking money.
And yes, a grown-ass adult guy was crying. Well, if you consider an 18-year-old a grown adult.
Before you start to label me a sexist and start to tell me that even men are humans and have emotions. Let me tell you the reason why this fucker was crying. He was crying because his crush saw him drinking gutter water yesterday night. And the reason for this humongous achievement of his was that he was drunk as fuck.
I understand that it's the worst thing to happen to you, and it's even worse when it happens in front of the girl you love. But I had told this fucker not to get drunk until I came.
No, why the fuck would he listen to me when there are girls in front of him?
It's more important to show off and become a black knight than to control how much to drink.
That's why I was not even feeling sympathetic for this guy.
"T-today was… sob… the worst day… snff… of my life." He spoke, mouth stuffed with food, as his eyes continued to water.
'God, I hope he chokes on that shit.'
"Whatever happens, happens for the best," I said, as I rubbed his back.
"W-what... the fuck?"
"Well, let's be real, she was out of your league, so you didn't really have any chance anyway. If you had proposed to her, she would have humiliated you, because we all know how nasty her personality is. So, her seeing you drinking gutter water just helped you."
"Sniff... E-even... my best friend became... mentally retarded today... I don't know what else I have to witness today. Don't tell me, is today the day I die?" He said dramatically as he gripped his hair to show the world his fabulous act.
'This fucker'
"Don't worry, nothing bad happens in my house," I said, taking a burger and stuffing it in my mouth.
As I chewed on the burger, I felt that the meat was dry, but I just ignored it, as my gaze moved towards my idiot friend, who was still crying and mumbling about being abandoned or something.
Seeing his state, I couldn't help but sigh internally as I opened my mouth to placate him while swallowing the burger.
But something didn't go right, as the burger got wedged in my throat, making my eyes widen.
I tried to swallow hard, but nothing happened.
I tried to cough, but even that didn't help me.
Air stopped coming; as instinct kicked in, I started to claw at my neck and tried to punch my chest. But as though every option had stopped, nothing happened.
I once again tried to breathe, tried to swallow, but as though this was supposed to be my day, not a single thing helped.
Seeing me thrashing around, my friend looked at me and laughed, "That's what you-"
Then he stopped midway, seeing my face.
His face changed as he started to tremble before realization dawned on him, and he hurriedly brought Coke near my face and started to scream something.
But I couldn't respond; my hands started to fall tiredly around me, my vision started to blur, and the world started to lose color as the darkness started to creep in from the edges of the vision.
The last thing I saw was his trembling face, which had lost color. He was doing something with my body, maybe the Heimlich maneuver shit or something.
I couldn't tell what he was doing because the darkness was starting to completely envelop me.
'Don't tell me, am I going to die by choking on a fucking burger?'
...
"Blink...!"
My eyes fluttered open, and I found myself drifting in the darkness.
I stayed still for some moments before my eyes started to take in the surroundings.
I couldn't move them, but that didn't make me blind, because I could still see the surroundings.
Everything was dark, like I was drowning in some dark water or something.
I tried to move my hands, but they didn't move. I could feel them, but the moment I tried to move them, it felt as though the strings attached to them were cut off.
I tried to move my legs, but I felt the same with them too.
I could feel every part of my body, but the moment I tried to move them, the same thing happened. Like a string getting cut off, I couldn't move them.
Seeing no progress in my attempts, I conceded.
'What's happening?' I thought, but before I could dwell on my thoughts more, another thought tore through my mind. 'Am I dead?'
The thought made my mind go blank from terror, not because I would be dead, but because of not being able to see my parents, brother, and friend again.
The pain overwhelmed me, but I couldn't even cry.
I continued to drift in that darkness, seconds blurring into hours, hours turning into days, and days shifting into years.
I didn't know how much time had passed, but the pain of losing my family and friends had blurred, and the thought, 'What will happen next?' had taken over my mind for some time.
As though it was the time to answer my thoughts, the darkness in front of my vision cleared, and a blinding light shone from there, enveloping my whole vision.
After a moment, the light dimmed before vanishing completely, making me able to see again.
My eyes blinked, seeing the change in the surroundings, as I also found that I could move my body once again.
That creepy feeling and darkness were nowhere right now, making happiness bloom in my heart.
After reeling in my happiness, I steadied myself before focusing on my surroundings that I was ignoring right now.
