Chapter 1 - The Awakening

Everything was dark then it wasn't, all I could remember was saving some girl near the restaurant from getting killed.

'Crap, did I die?'

I realized my eyes were closed, I slowly opened them and what I saw were blue eyes looking straight at me inches away from my face.

"Good morning sleepyhead!"

I blinked once then twice before I say up and noticed that I was Butt Booty Naked.

"Son of a!-"

I stood up away from whoever this person was, I had my hands on my crotch but I also took noticed that gone was my malnourished thin body and I had a body filled with muscles in all the right places.

"Where the hell am I!?"

And as if on que and pale gold and black panel appeared Infront of me.

"Eh?"

{Nephilims Odyssey}

It's been an hour since I woke and I was now wearing something the woman Calypso gave to me, it was something she had apparently made herself when she saw me naked on the beach and for some reason took my measurements in that very second.

Apparently I had reincarnated onto her island, and imagine my surprise when I found out her name was Calypso. I had done a book report on Homer's The Odyssey and we'll I'm definitely not in that version since Calypso wasn't a fairly pale woman with blonde hair that paintings described her as.

She was a slightly dark-skinned with cascading curls and blue eyes she was draped in sea worn robes I could even see bits of seaweeds and shells on her clothing.

'She looks like the version I've seen back in those EPIC animatics I watched when I was at my first year of college....'

I couldn't exactly focus on her that much but I listened to her talking about how happy she was, I was intently focused on the panel that appeared Infront of me after I woke up.

(A/N : Yes I'm using the fate power system as a base, but it's not exactly the same.)

Apparently I had reincarnated into a character that became God at the end of his series, I remember watching the series but everything was fuzzy I only remembered some of the important parts but I do know almost everything about jacks powers.

"And that's why I love ants!"

I was taken out of my thoughts when Calypso grabbed my hands out of nowhere.

"Uhm that's nice-" I replied quickly trying to hide the fact that I wasn't exactly listening.

"You said your name was Julius right?, that's a strange name but then again I have no idea how much the world has changed..."

Before I could respond, she grabbed my hand again

'Seriously what was it with her and grabbing'

She started tugging me away from the beach, deeper into the island.

Apparently, I didn't get a say in the matter.

She walked ahead barefoot, leading me through narrow trails blanketed in moss and roots. Trees towered overhead, the air smelled like salt, earth, and the faint scent of something Flowery? If that was even a word

"I want to show you everything," she said.

"I've never shown anyone before. Not because I didn't want to, but because there was never anyone to show."

She wasn't exaggerating. She had been alone completely alone for who knows how long. I know in Homer's version she had invisible servants that she couldn't talk to but that doesn't seem like the case here.

The first place she took me to was a lake. The water was so still and clear it looked like a mirror made of sky undisturbed by even the smallest breeze.

"It glows sometimes at night," she said, crouching beside it.

"There used to be fish in it but they slowly died out."

She said it casually like she was used to saying strange things out loud with no one to hear.

Then came the ruins.

They weren't temples or buildings, not really just shaped stones standing in quiet places, wrapped in vines. Some were stacked in odd patterns, others leaning like they were about to fall.

"I didn't build them," she said, brushing her fingers along one of the mossy stones.

"They were already here when I woke up on this island. I don't even know if anyone did build them. Maybe they're just… what the island dreams of when it's lonely."

Jeez she's really lonely.

She moved on before I could say anything, greeting trees like old friends, pointing out ones with hollow trunks that sang when the wind passed through, and a boulder shaped like a curled up cat. I didn't even question it.

We passed flowers that changed color when you looked at them from different angles, and mushrooms that pulsed faintly when stepped near.

"And that's my favorite rock," she said suddenly, stopping by a large flat stone tucked beside a twisted old tree. "It's warm when the sun hits it. I used to talk to it like it was listening. Still do, sometimes."

Eventually, we reached her home.

It was small, built just beneath the edge of a cliff where the sea stretched endlessly beyond. The cottage was made from driftwood, bleached bones of shipwrecks, and stitched together cloth and leaves. Shells and bits of polished glass were strung into windchimes that clinked in the breeze like distant laughter.

"I built it when I realized no one was coming," she said, her voice soft. "But now... you're here."

She looked at me with those same ocean-blue eyes not magical, not glowing. she was looking at me making sure I wasn't something she had imagined.

And for the first time since I woke up, I understood. This island wasn't just a place.

It was her whole world.

And somehow, I'd just stepped into it.

{Nephilims Odyssey}

Eventually time passed, at first I was bored as I didn't have a phone to doom scroll to but eventually Calypso took notice of it so she brought me around the island to teach me many things.

One of them was to swim since she pushed me onto the lake with such force I actually flew into the middle, the only reason why I survived was out of nowhere I felt my eyes burning then suddenly I was beside her again soaking wet.

After she taught me how to swim I started to get familiar with my abilities, I could move small Boulders with my mind and if I really tried I could shake down a tree.

Calypso was ecstatic when she found this out, she kept asking me questions on what I was and eventually I caved in and told her everything.

About Jacks lore with a bit of difference to fit this world that is, I wasn't gonna tell her I got reincarnated and I knew who she was and what this world was. She hasn't told me anything about her being a goddess and I didn't exactly act surprised when she told me her name so she probably assumed I thought of her like some stray castaway.

Well after telling her about being the child of a Minor Evil God and a Human and that I was essentially a Demi-God she opened up to me excitedly.

She literally told me how she was a Goddess and now she didn't have to worry about me dying of old age, in her own words she said.

"Now we can be together for the end of time!"

Yeah, no I definitely needed to get off this island and If I could I bring her with me I would. For the past few days I began to pity her from her failed attempts to start a conversation to her other failed attempts to charm me into sharing a bed with her.

We already did share a bed but I slept like a rock while she caressed me all over, it was really weird.

"Julius would you mind cooking dinner again?" She asked as she held my arm as we walked side by side, I didn't mind it as for some reason I didn't exactly feel any lust towards her. Hell it's like doing anything lustful was impossible to this body.

"Sure, we'll just have to go pick some fruits and vegetables around the island."

The Island was strange, it grew any type of fruit and vegetable you could imagine. Even modern bananas and a lemon which shouldn't even exist in this time.

I thought of a peach with the taste of an orange once and after a few minutes of looking around I found a peach that behold tasted like an orange, I gave it to Calypso and well.... She got hooked with it.

I started imagining different crops, wheat to make bread, different types of fruits to make salads, different types of vegetables to make stews and I even tried to thinking of mushrooms that mimic the taste of meat and at first I didn't find anything but after a day we found a tree covered in Chicken of the woods, Lobster Mushrooms, and even Beefsteak Fungus.

I've been here for exactly six days and for three days I was already cooking all our meals, and Calypso was happy for it.

Eventually night came and I was cooking dinner for us, The fire crackled gently as the scent of herbs, onions, and earthy mushrooms filled the air.

I stirred the pot slowly, watching the broth bubble around chunks of root vegetables and thick slices of those weirdly meat-like mushrooms. Chicken of the woods Calypso agree with the name and they were the closest thing to fried chicken I'm ever getting on this island.

I had a second pan heating on a flat rock near the flames, sizzling with mushroom pieces dredged in a mix of crushed herbs, wild salt, and some powdery root Calypso swore worked like flour. It didn't smell half bad.

She sat cross legged on the other side of the fire, chin resting on her hands, staring at me like I would disappear.

"You really do cook like a village wife," she said, smiling.

"Thanks?" I said, flipping one of the mushroom slices It made a satisfying hiss.

"You're so careful with the food," she continued.

"You season it with intention. Like you're making magic."

I rolled my eyes but didn't say anything. I was a trained chef so i treated food delicately and mostly because I was doing a bit of magic telekinetically stirring, keeping the fire from flaring too hot, making the pot rotate every so often. Not enough to notice just... helpful.

She leaned back, arms behind her, face tilted toward the slowly darkening sky. The ocean wind made her curls flutter like kelp and well they actually did smell like kelp.

"You know," she said quietly, "I've decided something."

"Oh no," I muttered, "That's never a good sentence."

She ignored me.

"I've decided you were sent here for me. Not as a coincidence, not as an accident. The gods heard how lonely I was and they sent you."

The spoon paused in my hand, I was now looking at her like she had gone insane.

"And even if you don't love me now, I'll wait. I'm patient. I've had lifetimes to practice. You'll love me eventually."

I stirred the pot again, not looking at her. Not because I was uncomfortable. More because I didn't know what to say.

The mushrooms on the flat rock were golden now. I moved them to a leaf and pushed them toward her with a bit of telekinesis, which made her smile like a child.

"I'll admit," I said, "if the gods did send me, their delivery system could use some work. But... I'm not mad about the company."

She didn't know what I meant but she was definitely beaming with happiness

And somehow, that felt worse than if she cried.
