Chapter 1 - Dreams

Novel by Jeliel Dejesus

This novel contains mature content.

Dante Brimstad jolted awake as lightning struck down the earth at the dead of night. thungerclouds hanging low in the distance.

Dante sits up sweat cascading down his body as he looks around the room hearing nothing but rain clashing against his window.

Dante gets off his bed and walks over to the window looking outside trying to look past the endless amounts of rain and darkness. After a while he leaves his room walking down the hall to his sisters room.

Dante enters her room and sees his sister Olivia Brimstad. He sees her hiding under her covers tears on the side of her eyes.

"Still a scared child?" Dante asked playfully. Olivia sat up abruptly, raising her voice at him. "Stop teasing me, you heartless bastard!" Olivia shouted trying to defend her scared nature.

Dante approached and sits down on her bed, patting her head comfortingly. "It's okay to be scared, Olivia. It's natural," he told her softly, as the rain intensified outside.

"Olivia, what's wrong? You're more scared than usual," Dante asked gently, not wanting to frighten her further. Olivia turned to him, shaking. "The nightmares are back the Woman in them she won't leave me alone." she said, tears in her eyes.

Dante gazed at her, remembering the nightmare she had described in the past—a pale woman in a black robe with piercing and glowing blue eyes staring at her in her dreams. "I see. Well, don't be scared, Olivia. I'll be here to protect you always. Now go back to sleep," he said, patting her head softly.

"Thank you, Dante," Olivia replied before closing her eyes, seeming to settle down more peacefully this time.

Dante thought to himself, ' she's been having those dreams since she was a kid. Every time they occurred, something bad happened.'

After Olivia fell asleep, Dante retreated back to his room. The storm began to calm, but the atmosphere remained heavy.

When he looked out his window, he noticed that the sky was clear with the moon bright against it—no clouds, no rain. However, the sound of the storm persisted.

'What the hell is going on? What is this?!' Dante thought, confused by the strange phenomenon. Just as he tried to figure it out, he suddenly woke up again the next morning—no rain, no storm, just silence as if a storm never occurred in the first place.
