Chapter 1 - Radiants; The Monstrous Sun Walkers

Blue River Continent, Terragrave Megacity, Third Protective Ring.

Aries Star Secondary School.

Senior Class III.

"At the beginning, only 20 percent of humanity survived the Osympic Test. Now, after 90 long years of research and preparation, we've managed to improve those odds from 20 all the way up to 40 percent with proper training and preparations."

Teacher Rain's voice was low but strangely, the sound of her voice entered the ears of every students in the massive hall.

Even if one were to ignore the voice entering their ears, every boys and girls in the class was paying attention to her for two simple reasons — Boobs!

Not just the ordinary ones, they were the heavy ones. Even she couldn't carry it all by herself and had to rest them on the Lectern she was standing behind to relive herself.

The teacher wasn't pretty and her beauty could be rated 4/10 but the racks she was carrying instantly elevated her from a being an ordinary 4 to a 20!

Teacher Rain continued on with her speech as she stood on the podium.

"The Omnibus system is fair but cruel. A single mistake during your test might completely ruin your chances to regress properly. Instead of gaining power and abilities, your original consciousness gets wiped out entirely, and you transform into one of those mindless monsters we call the Radiants."

The teacher paused as she glanced at the students, adjusting her glasses with her middle finger, she continued.

"In exactly one week from today, the next OSYMPIC Test will begin for all of you. Every single student in this room has not yet undergone the test, which means you are all about to face the most important trial of your entire lives. Therefore, in order to help quench your fear of Radiants and prepare you mentally for the upcoming test, the government has specifically sent and captured hundreds of live but crippled Radiants for you to kill personally as part of your training."

Instantly, the class erupted into series of murmur as they discussed amongst each other.

"What!?"

"We actually get to see those Sun-ghouls!"

"This hasn't happen before!"

"Right!? What is the government trying to pull? Do they want us to do so early?"

The students couldn't believe what they had heard.

'Radiants' were once humans that filed the Osympic Test and was transformed into monsters. But the keynote here was 'were'! Once transformed, they become demons from the fiery pit of hell.

If dealing with Radiants were as simple as just fighting these monsters, then humanity would have wiped them out long ago and reclaimed the entire planet. But unfortunately, the situation was far more complicated and terrifying than that.

These Sunfiends, as they were sometimes called, actually grow stronger and evolve just by sitting in direct sunlight and absorbing solar energy!

They could regenerate from almost any injury as long as the sun was shining on them, which made them nearly impossible to kill during daytime!

Even more terrifying was the fact that when Sun-ghouls evolve to a certain stage, they actually regain their intelligence and can transform back into their human form, merging and hiding into human society and living like humans do! That is the most terrifying aspect of the Heliophages!

The students couldn't believe they would actually get to see an actual Day walker without entering the OSYMPIC Test which means the government must have captured them from the outer rings to train to get used to Radiants in order not to freeze during the OSYMPIC Test.

"Shush!"

Her voice wasn't loud at all, but the air within the entire hall rippled and as though a stone as been dropped into a still lake, a visible sound wave resonated from her mouth as it expanded to the entire class.

Instantly, every student released muffled groans of pain as they slapped their hands over their ears desperately. The sound wave hit them like a punch to the head, making their ears ring and their skulls throb. After a long uncomfortable moment, they finally recovered, but their faces were pale and drawn, and not a single one of them dared to make even the slightest noise.

"Do I really need to remind you all that this is currently daytime?" she asked, her voice dripping with disappointment. "The Radiants are most active during daylight hours, and even though we are safe here behind the Ring Wall protective barriers, there is always a chance that our loud voices might travel far enough to agitate those monsters and potentially cause a beast wave that could overwhelm our defenses!"

She glared at the students as her heavy chest moved along with her breathing.

"Anyone who talks out of turn again will face severe punishment and will be the first person tasked with killing a Radiant in front of everyone!"

Every single student's face went even paler, and they immediately sat up straight and comported themselves.

Seeing that the class was finally properly composed Teacher Rain continued.

"But as you all know from your studies, when Radiants are exposed to direct sun rays, they rapidly grow strong again and can regenerate their severed limbs within hours or even minutes depending on how evolved they are. That is precisely why we are conducting this exercise today during daylight hours. Anyone who wan—"

She hadn't finished her words when she was interrupted!

"Fvck! That was a nice dream!" A student yawned loudly as he smiled foolishly while stretching with closed eyes.

___

"Fvck! That was a nice dream!"

Vogue yawned loudly and stretched his arms up over his head, moaning in pleasure as his muscles pulled and released all the tension that had built up during his nap. The sleep had been a nice one.

He had not managed to get much quality sleep for a week now, ever since the transmigration his internal biological clock has been ticking wrongly.

His body simply did not know when it was supposed to be asleep anymore and when it was supposed to be awake, leaving him exhausted and disoriented.

Originally from earth, he transmigrated into this world when a plane crashed directly into his room, killing him and only him!

Of course he awakened into the body of this youth called Vogue Morningster!

However, he wasn't phased by the strange transmigration into this strange fantasy world, neither was he phased by the fact that the body of this youth he transmigrated in could feel pain. The thing that irked him and at the same time made him happy was the damned reverse sleeping period!

In this world, everyone sleeps at dawn and wakes up at dusk. Although it's theoretically the same hours of sleep, but Vogue was still incredibly happy about this!

Vogue loves the dark, as it was pure and simple. When people were asleep at night, there would be no noise pollution, no crowds, no obligations. He could think clearly, play video games without interruption, and feel incredibly happy and content during those quiet midnight hours. It was as though he was the only one on earth at midnight.

But here, everyone wakes up at night and become up and active, making his tradition useless here and messing up with his internal clock.

Vogue sighed as he shook the thought from his head. Suddenly, he felt the surroundings incredibly quiet and heavy.

Vogue opened his eyes and saw the entire students staring at him with various expressions on their faces!

His face twitched and his eyes glanced to the podium, only to see a cat like eyes staring back at him expressionlessly.

Vogue's eyes immediately paled.

'Kaput! I'm dead."
